Coda Cottages is situated in the village of Cotton, which is situated 15 minutes away from the market town of Stowmarket. We have a range of local pubs providing good quality food within a short drive of the cottages. Our information booklet that we create and leave for you in the cottage will tell you about our personal favourites.

Within 20 Minutes Drive

The following attractions are within a 20 minutes drive from our Holiday Cottages.

Stonham Barns
with its craft shops, an owl sanctuary with daily shows and a short nine hole golf course with a driving range. When leaving the Barns you can follow the marked out A1120 tourist route which will lead you to...

Henry Watson Potteries at Wattisfield
the factory has a shop that is open seven days a week and sells good quality seconds of their pottery/china range.

Bury St Edmunds CathedralBury St Edmunds
There are a variety of things to do and see ranging from the historical ruins of the abbey where the Magna Carta was meant to have been signed. It has a working Georgian theatre as well as a traditional market twice a week. The town has a range of interesting shops, restaurants, theatre and cathedral with the newly completed tower, which you should see.

Ickworth
a historical house which is a property owned by the National Trust is very close to Bury St Edmunds.

Within 30 Minutes Drive

The following attractions are within a 30 minutes drive from our Holiday Cottages.

Ipswich Town
Suffolk's county town has a variety of historical buildings to visit such as the Ipswich Transport Museum, Ipswich and Christchurch Mansion. The town has excellent shopping facilities as well as a theatre, two large multi-screen screen cinemas, swimming pool and a variety of restaurants. You could also take one of the River Orwell Cruises.

Within 40 Minute to 1 Hour Drive

The following attractions are within a 40 minute or 1 hour drive from our Holiday Cottages.

Felixstowe
a coastal resort with its various attractions where you could take the pedestrian ferry to the town of Harwich. Where incidentally Christopher Caleb Jones the captain of the Mayflower was born.

Sutton HooSutton Hoo
which is the Anglo-Saxon Burial Site near market town of Woodbridge. While you are in that area of Suffolk you should also visit the town.

Orford
village, some 10 minutes drive from Woodbridge is from where you can take the riverboat called the Lady Florence with its four hour lunch cruises up and down the River Alde.

Aldeburgh and Southwold and the famous Snape Maltings
You can visit the Aldeburgh Lifeboat Station as well as the one of the best fish and chip resturants in East Anglia. In Southwold you can visit the first British pier to be constructed since 1954. There is also the opportunity to do some sailing from this town.

Additionally the Heritage Coast with Dunwich and Minsmere Bird Reserve.

Newmarket
with its famous national horse racing museum. Visits to the National Stud are available between March and end of September.

Cambridge
Access to the university town centre of Cambridge is made easy by a Park and Ride scheme. Once in the city centre you can explore some of the universities, churches, historical buildings, outdoor market and excellent shopping facilities.

Norwich county town of Norfolk
This is another place of historical interest with its castle and other buildings. It has a huge outdoor market and a wide variety of shops with theatres, cinemas and restaurants. You can also take a trip to the Norfolk Broads as they are only another 25 minutes from Norwich.

LavenhamThe Guildhall in Lavenham
Lavenham and Long Melford Visitors enjoy browsing in the famous antique shops, the Guildhall, explore the fascinating timber framed houses and indulge in the excellent cream teas.

Kentwell Hall
is a Tudor Manor house situated in Long Melford and won the Heritage Building of the Year 2001.

Sudbury
is also on this route and contains Gainsborough’s House, birthplace of the artist Thomas Gainsborough. The gallery displays more of the artist's work than in any other place in England.

The Haywain by John ConstableDedham Vale and Flatford Mill
home of the painter John Constable (The Haywain by John Constable pictured). His cottage is now a National Trust property which you can reach via this link or through the general National Trust website.

Sandringham
There is also Sandringham, the winter home of the Royal Family in Norfolk.

Walking- Visit Suffolk website

In addition we have the facility to store bicycles under our external open fronted lobby area but you will have to provide appropriate locks etc as we cannot accept responsibility for their loss.
